About Us

press PLAY is an independent strategy and design studio based in Calgary, Canada. Since 2020, we have worked with a host of inspiring leaders to tackle complex problems with curiosity, courage, and determination. We work with entrepreneurs, innovators, agitators and change-makers to move through obstacles and deliver meaningful change across a range of emerging industries.

Our team is composed of exceptional interdisciplinary thinkers and doers who are passionate about solving wicked problems. We do so by employing a collaborative approach that thoughtfully frames a problem, develops hypotheses, tests concepts, and challenges assumptions to craft novel solutions based on an empathic understanding of the user.

Frame the Challenge

Strategic challenges are often obscure and complex. We begin by identifying the key dimensions of the problem, using these to build a clear framework. This allows us to define the nature and scope of the challenge to be addressed.

Zoom In & Out

To keep innovation aligned with the bottom line, we continually adjust our focus. We get up close to understand the nature of the challenge. We step back to consider the bigger picture. By zooming in and out we’re able to iterate thoughtfully to improve client outcomes.

Integrate Perspectives

To surface and address blind spots, we actively seek out unique perspectives. In doing so, we gain a richer understanding of the opportunity and enlist new collaborators to support implementation of a robust solution.

Art Meets Science

We bring different styles of thinking together, combining analytical rigor with intuition to structure and solve complex problems. By operating at the intersection of creative and technical disciplines we are able to craft novel solutions.
